Preparations for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebrations have received a major boost following the donation of a brand-new pickup truck and 20 motorcycles to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to support this year’s awards.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku announced an enhanced prize package for the National Best Farmer.

He said the overall winner will receive the donated pickup truck, GH¢1.2 million sponsored by the Agricultural Development Bank, a brand-new tractor with accessories, and assorted farm inputs.
He added that the Ministry has also received two more pickup trucks and a 50-seater bus to reward the country’s best Senior High School in Practical Agriculture.

The Minister assured the public that all donations would be presented to deserving winners, promising transparency and accountability throughout the awards process.

Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, said the vehicles would help award-winning farmers expand their businesses while encouraging others to increase agricultural production.
Chief Executive Officer of Eezzy Group Limited, Mohammed Raii, said the company’s donation reflects its commitment to supporting agriculture, describing the sector as the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

The Ministry expressed optimism that more corporate organisations would support the National Farmers’ Day celebrations ahead of the December 4 event in the Bono Region.
